ARCADIA, Calif. (Mar. 12, 2022) – Santa Anita will hold a second California Cup Day on Saturday, May 28, with a card that includes five stakes for Golden State Series eligibles.
The co-features will be the $150,000 Snow Chief Stakes, presented by City National Bank, for 3-year-olds at 1 1/18 miles on the turf and the $150,000 Melair Stakes for 3-year-old fillies at 1 1/16 miles on the dirt.
The card also includes the $100,000 Crystal Water Stakes for 3-year-olds and up at one mile on the turf; the $100,000 Fran’s Valentine Stakes for fillies and mares 3-year-olds and up at one mile on the turf; and the $100,000 Thor’s Echo Stakes for 3-year-olds and up at six furlongs on the dirt.
Nominations for the stakes close Thursday May 19 and entries close Wednesday May 25. The card also is expected to include a pair of first-condition allowance races and a pair of maiden races, all four restricted to Cal-breds.
