Shaman Ghost to Stand for $7,500

From Adena Springs

PARIS, Ky. (Feb. 27, 2018) – Adena Springs announced today that their Champion homebred, Shaman Ghost, standing at Tommy Town Thoroughbreds in Santa Ynez, Calif., will stand the 2018 breeding season for $7,500 Live Foal.

“In keeping with my deep commitment to California racing and breeding, we are enhancing access and availability to Shaman Ghost, in his first season at stud,” said Adena Springs’ owner Franck Stronach.

He added: “It is my main aim that we raise quality horses in California. To raise good horses, you need good mares and good stallions. I hope with the reduced stud fee, smaller breeders will be encouraged to breed to this great stallion.”

Shaman Ghost was a five-time Graded-Stakes winner, including Grade 1 wins in Belmont Park’s Woodward Stakes, and the Santa Anita Handicap. Additionally, he was second to Arrogate in the $12 million Pegasus World Cup at Gulfstream Park, also a Grade 1.

Mike Allen, of Tommy Town Thoroughbreds, said: “Shaman Ghost is a horse who could have just as easily stood at Adena Springs in Kentucky. We are fortunate to have the opportunity to breed to him, especially at this price.”

Adena Springs noted any contracts originally signed for $10,000 will be reduced to $7,500 as a sign of good faith.

Ben Walden, of Adena Springs, added: “We had considerable interest in him by Kentucky breeders before it was decided for him to go to California. Let’s not forget that not only is he by Ghostzapper, but his dam is by the brilliant champion 2-year-old Gilded Time. We think he has the profile to be a leading sire.”
