ARCADIA, Calif. (Oct. 26, 2014) – California-bred Soi Phet and fellow multiple stakes winner Stryker PhD are entered in Thursday’s $75,000 Big Bear Stakes at Santa Anita.
Soi Phet is by Tizbud, out of the Siberian Summer mare Summer Jersey, was bred by ARCHA Racing, is owned by Gerald Benowitz and Sandra Powell and Mathilde and Paul Viskovich and is trained by Leonard Powell. He has eight wins in 30 starts, earnings of $472,936 and is coming off a seventh in the Oct. 4 City of Hope.
Also entered is Stryker PhD, a Washington-bred son of California stallion Bertrando, out of the Smart Strike mare Striking Scholar, bred by Char Clark Thoroughbreds & Todd Havens, owned by Mona Hour and trained by Larry Ross. He has five wins in 16 starts, earnings of $292,751 and is coming off a three consecutive stakes wins at Emerald Downs.
