Solid Cal-bred Turnout for Berkeley

ALBANY, Calif. (Nov. 27, 2019) – Graded winners Ashleyluvssugar, What a View and Grecian Fire are among the California-breds entered in Saturday’s $100,000 Grade III Berkeley Handicap at Golden Gate.

Ashleyluvssugar is by Game Plan, out of the Urgent Request mare Ashley’s Folly, was bred by owners Alesia, BranJan Stables & Ciaglia and is trained by Peter Eurton. He has 10 wins in 35 starts, earnings of $1,473,583 and is making his first start since a sixth in the July 26 California Dreamin’.

What a View is by Vronsky, out of the Manila mare Oceans N Mountains, was bred by Old English Rancho, Patsy Berumen & Sal Berumen, is owned by The Ellwood Johnston Trust or Taste of Victory Stables and is trained by Sherrie Monroe. He has eight wins in 30 starts, earnings of $928,057 and is coming off a fourth in the Oct. 19 California Flag.

Grecian Fire is by Unusual Heat, out of the Kitten’s Joy mare Maddie’s Odyssey, was bred by owner KMN Racing and is trained by J.K. Desormeaux. He has six wins in 28 starts, earnings of $412,453 and is coming off a fourth in the Nov. 2 Joseph T. Grace.

Northern California Yearling Sale graduate My Friend Emma is by Tannersmyman, out of the Artax mare Ma Ka Bet, was bred by Jim Eaton, is owned by Candelario Barragan or Jocelyn Robles and is trained by Jesus Ramos. The $1,000 purchase at the Northern California Yearling Sale has eight wins in 27 starts, earnings of $294,712 and is coming off a sixth in the Nov. 16 Oakland Stakes.

Lymebird is by Limehouse, out of the Old Trieste mare Gorgeous Trieste, was bred by Javier Avitia, is owned by Don Brown & Guy Brown and is trained by Angelo Tekos Jr. He has six wins in 30 starts, earnings of $202,822 and is coming off a Sept. 28 optional claiming win.

Northern California Yearling Sale graduate Camino del Paraiso is by Suances, out of the Successful Appeal mare Loni’s Appeal, was bred by Red Baron’s Barn, is owned by Glen Road Racing or Paradise Ranch Road and is trained by O.J. Jauregui. The $5,000 purchase at the Northern California Yearling Sale has four wins in 31 starts, earnings of $292,152 and is coming off a second in the Nov. 2 Joseph T. Grace. He was second in this race last year and third in 2017.
