DEL MAR, Calif. (Sept. 2, 2021) – California stallion Texas Ryano was represented by his first winner on Thursday when Peppermint Flirt won the sixth race at Del Mar, a $70,000 maiden special weight for Cal-bred 2-year-old fillies.
Peppermint Flirt, out of the Artie Schiller mare Dial a Date, was bred by Williamson Racing, is owned by Masino Racing Stable and trained by Craig Dollase. This was her second career start. She is Texas Ryano’s second foal to race.
She ran the mile on turf in 1:37.66 and won by a neck at odds of 5-1 in a field of nine.
