CYPRESS, Calif. (Sept. 6, 2019) – From two named foals in his first crop, California stallion Tiz a Minister  was represented by his first winner when Vastly Deep scored on debut in a maiden claiming race Sept. 6 at Los Alamitos Race Course for trainer Steven Miyadi.

Going 5 1/2 furlongs on the main track, Vastly Deep settled in midpack as early fractions clicked off in :21.72 and :45.66 for a half-mile. He took the lead a furlong from the finish and pulled away to win by two lengths. The gelding finished in 1:04.89 on a fast track.

After placing third and fourth, respectively, in the San Felipe Stakes (G2) and Santa Anita Derby (G1), he took the Affirmed Handicap (G3) at Hollywood Park.

He was retired with a record of 3-5-5 from 20 starts and earnings of $481,530. Standing at Barton Thoroughbreds in California, his 2019 fee was $1,500.
