ARCADIA, Calif. (Apr. 5, 2015) – California-breds Melanistic and Uzziel are entered in Friday’s $75,000 Santa Lucia Stakes for fillies and mares at Santa Anita.
Melanistic is by Ministers Wild Cat, out of the Charismatic mare Back Door Girl, was bred by Ron Goodman, is owned by Abbondanza Racing and trained by Richard Baltas. She has 11 wins in 43 starts, earnings of $274,764 and is coming off a second in the Mar. 22 Dream of Summer. She broke her maiden in a $2,500 claimer at Los Alamitos in 2012.
Uzziel is by Harlington, out of the Lord At War mare Pretti Woman, was bred by owners James and Tammy McKenney and is trained by J. Keith Desormeaux. She has four wins in 13 starts, earnings of $223,138 and is coming off a fourth in the Mar. 14 Santa Margarita.
