Yearlings With California Ties Sell

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Sept. 15, 2021) – California-bred mares continue to produce yearlings attractive to buyers at the Keeneland September Yearling Sale, as a filly out of the Unusual Heat mare Unusual Strike sold for $105,000 in Wednesday’s session.

The Louisiana-bred filly, by Not This Time, was purchased by Rio Del Sol Stables. She is a half-sister to stakes winners Jimi’s a Star and Berniestrike.

Meanwhile, a filly out of Maddie’s Odyssey, who has produced three California-bred stakes winners, sold on Wednesday for $500,000 in foal to Tapit. The yearling filly was purchased by Tracy Farmer.

Maddie’s Odyssey, a daughter of Kitten’s Joy, has produced Grade II winner Sneaking Out, Grade III winner Grecian Fire and multiple stakes winner Been Studying Her.
