INGLEWOOD, Calif. (Apr. 27, 2013) – Surfcup outdueled Fighting Hussar through the lane to win Saturday’s $300,000 Snow Chief Stakes for 3-year-olds eligible to the Golden State Series on the Gold Rush XIV card at Hollywood Park.

Surfcup is by Unusual Heat, out of the Runaway Groom mare Omi Princess, was bred by owner Donald Dizney, is trained by Bob Baffert and was ridden by Rafael Bejarano, his third win on the card.

Surfcup has three wins in six starts, earnings of $275,800 and was coming off a fourth in the Mar. 30 Echo Eddie. He ran the 1 1/8 miles in 1:50.80 and won by one-half length at odds of 5-1.

Fighting Hussar finished second and even-money favorite Tiz a Minister rallied from last to finish third in the field of eight.
