Breeder/Owner Marvin Malmuth Passes

SANTA YNEZ, Calif. (Sept. 26, 2018) – Longtime Thoroughbred breeder and owner Marvin Malmuth passed away earlier this month at his home. He was 89.

Malmuth was the founder and president of the Retla Steamship Co., a cargo ship charter business. Malmuth was also a Thoroughbred Race horse breeder of California-bred stakes winner Oberwald and owner of multiple graded winner Explicit. He served on the Board of Directors of the Thoroughbred Owners of California.

Malmuth is survived by his wife Sonja; children Karen, David, Michael and Robyn and grandchildren Kate, Amy Josh, Drew and Daniel; brother Eddie Malmuth and numerous nieces and nephews.
