Cal-bred Trio Entered in San Luis Rey

ARCADIA, Calif. (Mar. 18, 2020) – Millionaire Ashleyluvssugar, Northern California Yearling Sale graduate Camino Del Paraiso and Ward ‘n Jerry are the California-breds entered in Saturday’s $100,000 Grade III San Luis Rey Stakes at Santa Anita.

Camino Del Paraiso is by Suances, out of the Successful Appeal mare Loni’s Appeal, was bred by Red Baron’s Barn, is owned by Paradise Road Ranch and trained by O.J. Jauregui. The $5,000 purchase at the Northern California Yearling Sale has five wins in 34 starts, earnings of $338,192 and is coming off a second in the Feb. 8 Thunder Road.

Ashleyluvssugar is by Game Plan, out of the Urgent Request mare Ashley’s Folly, was bred by owners Alesia, Bran Jam Stable & Ciaglia Racing and is trained by Peter Eurton. He has 10 wins in 37 starts, earnings of $1,487,583 and is coming off a fourth in the Jan. 18 Unusual Heat Turf Classic, presented by City National Bank. He was fifth in this race last year, third in 2017 and won the race in 2015.

Ward ‘n Jerry is by Lucky Pulpit, out of the Dehere mare Tamarack Bay, was bred by owners Mr. & Mrs. Larry Williams and is trained by Mike Puype. He has five wins in 19 starts, earnings of $313,579 and is coming off a second in the Jan. 18 Unusual Heat Turf Classic, presented by City National Bank.
