Cal-bred Trio in Del Mar Mile

DEL MAR, Calif. (Aug. 15, 2019) – Grade I winner What a View, Grade III winner Grecian Fire and fellow California-bred Prince Earl are entered in Sunday’s $200,000 Grade II Del Mar Mile Handicap.

What a View is by Vronsky, out of the Manilla mare Oceans N Mountains, was bred by Old English Rancho, Patsy Berumen & Sal Berumen, is owned by Finish Line Racing, the Ellwood Johnston Trust or Taste of Victory Stables and is trained by Phil D’Amato. He has eight wins in 28 starts, earnings of $921,706 and is coming off a third in the July 26 California Dreamin’. He was ninth in this race last year.

Grecian Fire is by Unusual Heat, out of the Kitten’s Joy mare Maddie’s Odyssey, was bred by owner KMN Racing and is trained by J.K. Desormeaux. He has six wins in 25 starts, earnings of $384,202 and is coming off a win in the July 26 California Dreamin’.

Prince Earl is by Paddy O’Prado, out of the Unusual Heat mare Soo Steamy, was bred by Madeline Auerbach & Harris Farms, is owned by Old Bones Racing Stable or Marshall and is trained by Phil D’Amato. He has two wins in four starts, earnings of $104,778 and is making his first start since a fourth in the Dec. 1 Hollywood Derby.
