DEL MAR, Calif. (Sept. 1, 2022) – Defending champion Lieutenant Dan returns after a 10-month layoff as the lone California-bred entered in Sunday’s $150,000 Grade III Green Flash Handicap at Del Mar.
Lieutenant Dan is by Grazen, out of the Indian Charlie mare Excusabull, was bred by owner Nick Alexander and is trained by Steve Miyadi.
The multiple graded winner has eight wins in 17 starts, earnings of $833,740 and is making his first start since a second in last November’s Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint. He won this race last year.
