Dirt Mile, Sprint Options for Slow Down Andy

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Oct. 26, 2022) – California-bred multiple graded stakes winner Slow Down Andy is cross-entered in the $1 million Grade I Big Ass Fans Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile and the $2 million Grade I Qatar Racing Breeders’ Cup Sprint at Keeneland. Slow Down Andy has first preference in the Dirt Mile.

Slow Down Andy is by Nyquist, out of the Square Eddie mare Edwina E, was bred by Reddam Racing and is trained by Doug O’Neill.

He has four wins in nine starts, earnings of $819,100 and is coming off a third in the Oct. 1 Awesome Again Stakes.

Slow Down Andy’s biggest wins are in the Grade II Caesars Sportsbook Del Mar Derby, the Grade II Los Alamitos Futurity and the Grade III Sunland Park Derby. He qualified for the Grade I Kentucky Derby, but missed the race with a fever.

Slow Down Andy would be faces the likes of Jack Christopher and perhaps Cyberknife in the Dirt Mile, and Jackie’s Warrior and possibly Jack Christopher in the Sprint. Both Breeders Cup races are scheduled to run on Saturday, Nov. 5. The Dirt Mile is the fifth race, the Sprint is the seventh race.
