G. G. Ryder Takes Fifth Crack at Berkeley

ALBANY, Calif. (Nov. 21, 2018) – California-bred multiple stakes winner G. G. Ryder takes his fifth shot at the $100,000 Grade III Berkeley Handicap at Golden Gate on Saturday.

Bella Luma is a filly by Ministers Wild Cat, out of the Bold Badgett mare Bold Roberta, was bred by Thomas Bachman, is owned by Fairview or Linda Brown and trained by Ed Moger Jr. She has five wins in 17 starts, earnings of $167,775 and is coming off a Sept. 23 allowance win.

More Power to Him is by Slew’s Tiznow, out of the Beau Genius mare Pundit, was bred by owner Brett Mason and is trained by Faith Taylor. He has three wins in 22 starts, earnings of $223,861 and is coming off a second in the Oct. 14 Bull Dog.

G. G. Ryder is by Chhaya Dance, out of the Storm Boot mare Stormy Gigi, was bred by Eagle Oak Ranch, is owned by Hollendorfer or George Todaro and is trained by Jerry Hollendorfer. He has 15 wins in 50 starts, earnings of $706,439 and is coming off a win in an Oct. 26 optional claimer. He was eighth in this race last year, second in 2016, third in 2015 and second in 2014.

Camino Del Paraiso is by Suances, out of the Successful Appeal mare Loni’s Appeal, was bred by Red Baron’s Barn, is owned by Glen Road Racing or Paradise Road Racing and is trained by O.J. Juaregui.
