TEMECULA, Calif. (July 22, 2019) — Grade 1 winner Graydar has moved from Taylor Made Stallions in Kentucky to Linda Madsen’s Milky Way Farms in Temecula, California.

The 10-year-old son of Unbridled’s Song out of Sweetest Smile, by Dehere, is currently a Top 10 third-crop sire by earnings ($2,534,001), stakes winners (3), and winners (48). He is represented this year by standout 3-year-old colts Gray Attempt, winner of the $150,000 Smarty Jones Stakes and Gazebo Stakes, and Gray Magician, second in the UAE Derby (G2) and Indiana Derby (G3), as well as the recent stakes-winning filly Wondrshegotthundr, who won the Ellen’s Lucky Star Stakes at Indiana Grand. Graydar is also the sire of Lombo, winner of the 2018 Robert B. Lewis Stakes (G3) at Santa Anita

“There aren’t many Grade 1-winning sons of Unbridled’s Song and we are very excited to bring one of Graydar’s caliber to California,” said Madsen. “He was an accomplished racehorse and a dominant performer on the track. He is passing on his looks, speed, and class, and two of his best horses have had success in California. He is a perfect complement to our roster.”

Campaigned by Twin Creeks Racing Stables and trained by Todd Pletcher, Graydar was one of the top older horses of 2013. Undefeated in three starts that season, the imposing gray captured the Donn Handicap (G1) by three lengths in his stakes debut, powering home to defeat four Grade 1 winners, earning a 109 Beyer Speed Figure. In winning the New Orleans Handicap (G2) at Fair Grounds he demonstrated his versatility, rallying from off the pace to defeat a field of top older runners. He closed out his stellar career with a gate-to-wire win in the Kelso Invitational Handicap (G2), where he ran a mile in 1:34 flat under top weight.

All told, Graydar, who was bred by William Farish, retired with a near flawless record, winning five of six lifetime starts and banking $841,560.
