ELMONT, N.Y. (June 8, 2023) – Northern California Yearling Sale graduate Yo Yo Candy and fellow California-bred Ship Cadet are entered in Sunday’s $150,000 Tremont Stakes for 2-year-olds at Belmont Park.
Yo Yo Candy is by Danzing Candy, out of the Two Punch mare Yolanda B Too, was bred by Checkmate Thoroughbreds, is owned by Happy Tenth Stable and trained by Daniel Velasquez. The $6,000 purchase at the Northern California Yearling Sale won his debut May 23 at Parx and has earnings of $27,000.
Ship Cadet is by Midshipman, out of the Harbor the Gold mare Bella Mia, was bred by Mr. & Mrs. William Griffin, is owned by Paradise Farms, David Staudacher, Kevin Haynes and John Huber and is trained by Michael Maker. He won his debut May 12 at Belmont and has earnings of $49,500.
