CYPRESS, Calif. (Dec. 11, 2022) — A razor-sharp Geezer and Giver Not a Taker, runner-up in the Golden State Juvenile Oct. 29, are among the 2-year-olds nominated to the $100,000 King Glorious Stakes at Los Alamitos.
A one-mile race restricted to horses bred or sired in California, the King Glorious will be run for the 11th time – twice at Hollywood Park before moving to Los Alamitos in 2014 – Sunday, Dec. 18, the final day of the Winter Thoroughbred meet.
Owned by Royalty Stable and trained by Hector Palma, Geezer, a son of Merit Man and the More Than Ready mare Pat Olcott, will be trying two turns for the first time after three consecutive wins at six furlongs. After finishing fifth in his career debut Aug. 27, the gelding defeated maidens by three lengths Sept. 16 at Los Alamitos, then won a pair optional claimers Oct. 30 and Nov. 27 at, respectively, Santa Anita and Del Mar. He’s earned $89,760.
Owned by breeders J. Kirk and Judy Robison and trained by Peter Miller, Giver Not a Taker has won two of four and earned $154,750. The Danzing Candy gelding out of the Kitten’s Joy mare Kittens Trip is already a stakes winner, having captured the I’m Smokin Sept. 9.
Other nominees to the King Glorious are Amigo G A, Belly Up, a last out maiden winner Nov. 27 at Del Mar, Black Magician, Merit Song, My Ransom Mystic Flyer, Please Focus and Tom and Jazzy.
Entries for the King Glorious Stakes will be taken Thursday, Dec. 15.
