CYPRESS, Calif. (July 3, 2014) – Longshot Soi Phet stalked the leaders and pounced turning for home, extending his lead down the long stretch for a four-length win in Thursday’s $100,000 Bertrando Stakes for Golden State Series eligibles on opening day at Los Alamitos.
Soi Phet is by Tizbud, out of the Siberian Summer mare Summer Jersey, was bred by ARCHA Racing, is owned by Gerald Benowitz and Sandra Powell and Paul and Mathilde Viskovich and is trained by Leonard Powell.
He has seven wins in 27 starts, earnings of $352,438 and was coming off a win in a June 8 starter’s allowance.
He ran the mile in 1:35.50 and went off at odds of 11-1. Spirit Rules was second and Rock Me Baby third.
