HOKKAIDO, Japan (July 11, 2023) – A Japanese-bred colt out of two-time California-bred Horse of the Year Spiced Perfection sold for nearly $1.2 million at Tuesday’s JHRA Select Sale.
The colt is by American Pharoah and out of Spiced Perfection, who was by Smiling Tiger, out of the Pleasantly Perfect mare Perfect Feat and was bred by Premier Thoroughbreds. The winning bid was for $1,188,812 (USD).
Spiced Perfection had nine wins in 22 starts and earnings of $1,224,705. Among her wins were the Grade I La Brea and Madison Stakes, the Grade II Thoroughbred Club of America Stakes and the Grade III Go for Wand Handicap.
