DEL MAR, Calif. (Aug. 12, 2018) – Defending champion Tribalist and a trio of fellow California-breds take on Breeders’ Cup turf Sprint champion Stormy Liberal in Friday’s $75,000 Green Flash Handicap at Del Mar.
Richard’s Boy is by Idiot Proof, out of the Cee’s Tizzy mare Marissa’s Joy, was bred by Harold and Pamela Tillema, is owned by Rockingham Ranch and trained by Peter Miller. He has nine wins in 31 starts, earnings of $892,835 and is making his first start since a sixth in the Mar. 31 Al Quoz Sprint in Dubai. He was third in this race last year and second in 2016.
Tribalist is by Tribal Rule, out of the Cee’s Tizzy mare Ultimate Summer, was bred by Dutko & Abrams, is owned by Abrams, Dutko and Paran and is trained by Blake Heap. He has four wins in 10 starts, earnings of $272,370 and is coming off a second in a July 25 optional claimer. He won this race last year.
Touching Rainbows is by Aragorn, out of the Gold Case mare Violin Case, was bred by Esembee Inc., is owned by KM Racing Enterprises and Madaket Stables and is trained by Phil D’Amato. He has six wins in 14 starts, earnings of $266,905 and is coming off a third in the July 28 Bing Crosby.
