Unusual Heat’s Stud Fee Set

From Unusual Heat Syndicate COALINGA, Calif. (Nov. 13, 2013) – Unusual Heat, the five-time leading sire in California (2008-2012) and six-time leading sire of California-breds (2008-2013), will again stand in 2014 at Harris Farms in Coalinga, CA for $20,000 to approved mares only.

In 2013, Unusual Heat was represented by eight stakes winners including stakes-winning Breeders’ Cup Mile participant He Be Fire N’ Ice. Other prominent runners included Grade II-placed stakes winners Gervinho and Unusual Way along with Grade II-placed Huntsville. Unusual Heat was also represented by Golden State Series stakes winners Surfcup, Unusual Hottie and U’narack.

Unusual Heat set the all-time California record for progeny earnings in 2008 with over $5.8 million and was again the California earnings champion for 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012. He is currently battling for leading sire in California in 2013 with over $4 million in progeny earnings, achieving that milestone for an unprecedented sixth consecutive season in California. This also marks Unusual Heat’s 10th consecutive California-bred North American Turf Earnings Championship. He has sired one Eclipse Award Winner and 13 California Champions.

Next year will be Unusual Heat’s fourth season standing at Harris Farms. The son of Nureyev, 24 next year, successfully covered a full book of mares in 2013. He has sired nine graded stakes winners, 24 graded stakes horses, 40 stakes winners and 117 earners of over $100,000 from just 449 starters. He is part of the Harris Farms stallion roster that includes Lucky Pulpit, Thorn Song, Tizbud, Desert Code, Lucky J.H. and Heatseeker.
