(Nov. 16, 2016) –The California Horse Racing Board’s Race Dates Committee took a step toward resolving a nearly six-month-long dispute regarding Northern California’s 2017 schedule Nov. 16, with a recommendation that largely resembles the region’s 2016 slate. The proposal still needs to be approved by the CHRB’s full board at the regularly scheduled monthly meeting Nov. 17. Pushed forward during a committee meeting at Del Mar, the proposal has the Northern California fair dates for 2017 essentially the same in number and order as 2016. By DRF.com NEPTUNE CITY, N.J. — Monmouth Park race-caller Frank Mirahmadi was released from the Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune City, N.J., on Monday, a week after undergoing colon surgery. Mirahmadi, 48, will continue his recovery at his New Jersey residence. It has not been determined when Mirahmadi will return to the Monmouth announcer’s booth, but he is eager to do so. Angelo Chinnici, the medical director at Monmouth who convinced Mirahmadi to go to the hospital and then was instrumental in getting him admitted, was already devising a plan last Saturday on how to get Mirahmadi to the press box without draining his energy. When asked by text whether he would return this weekend, Mirahmadi responded, “It’s like an inquiry. Picture the numbers on the board flashing. I know I can do it but will defer to the decision of doctors.”   ...

(Aug. 19, 2016) — Southern California racing officials have reached a tentative agreement for racing dates for three years and long-term offtrack stabling beginning in 2017, executives said on Thursday. The proposal will be presented to the California Horse Racing Board for ratification at committee and board meetings in the coming days at Del Mar. No agreement has been reached on racing dates for the Northern California Thoroughbred circuit, with negotiations likely to continue for another month or two, several officials said. The racing board’s dates committee is scheduled to meet Monday to hear updates on proposed dates for both Thoroughbred circuits. The Southern California schedule from 2017 to 2019 is likely to look similar to the 2014 and 2015 seasons, the first two years of racing following the closure of Hollywood Park in late 2013, officials said.
