California Chrome is using the race as a prep for the $12 million Pegasus Challenge. He is by Lucky Pulpit, out of the Not For Love mare Love the Chase, was bred by Perry Martin & Steve Coburn, is owned by California Chrome LLC and trained by Art Sherman. He has 15 wins in 25 starts, earnings of $14,452,650 and is coming off a second in the Nov. 5 Breeders’ Cup Classic. Howdy is by Sundarban, out of the Momentum mare Foxy Babe, was bred by Crystal Valley Farms, is owned by Alesia, Ciaglia Racing or Crystal Valley and is trained by Peter Eurton.
