(May 31, 2019) — An alteration to the schedule for the Summer Thoroughbred Festival at Los Alamitos was made official Friday.   The three-week season will now commence Saturday, June 29 rather than the originally scheduled Thursday, June 27.   Racing will be conducted on a Thursday-Sunday basis – including a special holiday program (Thursday, July 4) – for the final two weeks of the now 10-day meet. Never mind that it was Kentucky Derby Day, and she had watched the race every year on TV since she was a child. She wanted to get home to her barn in Fair Hill, Md. The flight was mostly empty because who’s flying out of Louisville the day of the Derby?
